It all began with four friends and one wild dream — to create a space where people could experience nature in its rawest form, while still enjoying a unique, almost European-style charm in the heart of Himachal.
With that vision, we set out to build something different — not just another stay, but a destination that feels alive, soulful, and deeply connected to the wild. After months of searching, we found our perfect spot: a secluded patch of forest in Shangarh, tucked deep within the Sainj Valley. Untouched, serene, and magical — it was everything we had imagined and more.
In December 2020, as snow quietly covered the valley, we laid the first stone of Woodzo Shangarh. Building a property in the middle of the forest — through snow, rains, and unpredictable terrain — was no easy task. We faced countless challenges, from transporting materials through narrow forest trails to braving freezing temperatures. But what kept us going was the dream that one day, people from all over would come here to find peace, joy, and connection.
After nearly a year of relentless effort, we finally opened our doors in October 2021.
And that’s how Woodzo was born — from friendship, from passion, and from a deep love for nature and adventure. Today, it stands as a reminder that the wildest dreams are worth chasing… especially when they lead you to the forest.
